Freshers' Week & Move-In
The start of the academic year — and the great migration into town.

Every September, thousands of students arrive in St Andrews to move into halls and flats for the new academic year. For first-years especially, it's a major journey — frequently international, almost always with more luggage than any taxi can hold, and landing into a town they've never seen.
Move-in weekend concentrates an enormous volume of arrivals into a few days, with luggage being the defining challenge. Edinburgh Airport heaves, Leuchars sees surge crowds, and a small saloon simply won't fit a year's belongings. Families value a calm, spacious, pre-booked transfer to get a nervous fresher settled.
The things that define the week.
A full year of belongings rarely fits a standard car. We send an MPV or 8-seater as standard for move-in.
Many students arrive jet-lagged from overseas, straight into halls allocation and orientation.
Set up an account once and we become the family's trusted driver for every trip home all year.
How to arrive without the stress.
- Book a larger vehicle — move-in luggage almost never fits a saloon.
- Travel a day or two before the rush if your hall allocation allows.
- Set up a parent account so the same driver handles every term-time trip.
- Share the hall name; we know every residence and its drop-off point.
Questions.
If you tell us how much, yes. For Freshers' move-in we default to an MPV or 8-seater. It's the single most common mistake we see families make with other firms — booking a car that's far too small.
