Getting home safely when the night ends.

St Andrews is one of the safest towns you could study in — but a long walk back to halls in the dark, alone and tired, is the one part of student life we'd always want done differently. This is the honest, no-lecture guide to getting yourself and your friends home safely, every time.

We've spent eighteen years driving in this town, and the message we'd give every student is simple: text us, don't walk alone. We would always rather come and get you.

St Andrews feels small and friendly, and it largely is. But dark coastal paths, cold winter nights and the long stretches between some halls and the town centre are exactly the situations where a five-minute car ride is worth far more than it costs.

This guide isn't about scaring you. It's the practical, grown-up advice we'd give someone in our own family heading out for the evening — and a few reasons a pre-booked, named driver is safer than the alternatives.

The simple habits that keep you safe

Never walk home alone in the dark

It's the single most important one. Stay with friends, agree how everyone's getting home before the night starts, and don't peel off on your own — especially along the coast, the pier or unlit paths.

Plan the journey home first

Decide how you're getting back before you go out, while you're thinking clearly. A pre-booked pickup means there's no scramble — and no temptation to walk — at the end of the night.

Keep your phone charged

A dead phone at 1am is how people end up stranded. Carry a small power bank, and keep our number saved so you can call or text in seconds.

Look after each other

Make sure everyone gets home, not just you. The friend who's had the most is the one who most needs a lift to the door — wait with them until they're safely inside.

Why a pre-booked driver beats the alternatives

Late at night, your options are usually: walk, flag whatever's around, or call someone you trust. Here's why the last one matters.

You know exactly who's collecting you

Every one of our drivers is local, licensed and vetted. When you book, you know who's coming and that they know the town. That's very different from getting into the first unknown car that stops.

Door to door, not drop-and-go

We take you to your actual hall or flat entrance, not the end of the street. On a cold, dark night that last hundred metres matters.

A real person answers

Call us and you speak to us — not an app with surge pricing and a twenty-minute wait. If you're stuck, tell us where you are and we'll sort it.

Agreed price, no nasty surprises

You know the fare before you travel, so there's never a reason to risk walking because you're worried about a meter climbing.

If a night out goes wrong

Sometimes plans fall apart — you lose your group, your phone dies, or a friend has had too much. Keep it simple: get somewhere well-lit and busy, call someone you trust, and don't set off walking alone to fix it.

Lost your friends?

Stay put somewhere safe and visible rather than wandering to find them. Call us and we'll come to you — give us a clear landmark.

A friend who's unwell

Stay with them, keep them warm, and don't let them head off alone. If you're worried about their health, call 999 — never hesitate over that. Otherwise, we'll get you both home together.

No money on you?

Don't let that be the reason you walk. Book the ride, get home safely, and sort payment properly — your safety is the priority, every time.

Useful numbers

Save us, a couple of trusted friends, and the university's own student support and security contacts in your phone now — before you need them.

A word for parents

If your son or daughter is studying here, the thing that helps most is knowing they have a safe, reliable way home that doesn't depend on cash, a charged phone or a working app at the worst possible moment.

Many families set up a parent account with us for exactly this reason: the same trusted, vetted local driver, bookable and payable by you from anywhere in the world, so a safe ride home is always one message away.

Text us, don't walk alone.

Save our number tonight. Whether it's a planned pickup after an evening out or a last-minute 'please come and get me', we'd always rather drive you home safely than have you walk. Door to door, a named local driver, any hour.
